SUKKUR: A medical board that examined a 10-year-old domestic worker, allegedly murdered by an influential Pir in Sindh’s Ranipur town found “severe torture” and probable sexual assault.
The district police detained Pir Asad Shah Jeelani. A member of Khairpur district’s Ranipur town’s wealthy family, last week for torturing his 10-year-old maid to death.
The matter raised after social media videos of a minor victim’s body with horrific torture marks went viral. The critically injured girl struggles to sit up on her bed but collapses in the footage.
The video drew nationwide criticism.
The minor was the daughter of Nadeem Ali Tharro, of village Ali Muhammad Tharro, Khanawahan, near Mehrabpur, District Nausharoferoz.
Sunday, Dr. Amanullah Bhanghwar, assistant Police Surgeon Shaheed Benazirabad District, said the medical board presented a five-page report.
The post-mortem report found “decomposition with bluish discoloration on right side of face and forehead. As well as greenish mottled discoloration over left side of face, neck and shoulder”.
The preliminary autopsy report also noted the girl’s enlarged abdomen.
SSP Khairpur Mir Rohal Khan Khoso told the media that accused Jillani brought to GIMS Hospital Khairpur for a DNA test. Four others working at Pir’s home had also tested.
He stated the Pir of Ranipur’s residence not shut, but police there to collect investigation material.
The SSP also pledged to rescue other maids and staff from Pir’s residence if they were hostages.
The ultimate post-mortem will determine if the little girl sexually assaulted.
The senior cop stated the suspended SHO Ranipur, doctor, and compounder who protected the suspects will remanded.
The 10-year-old girl’s body exhumed on Saturday in Khan Wahan, District Nausharoferoz, by a medical team from Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Hospital in Nawabshah under the supervision of Kandario judicial magistrate Jameel Ahmed Rajper.
