Accusations of Ball Tampering Surround Indian All-Rounder Ravindra Jadeja in First Test Match Against Australia
During the first Test match between India and Australia in Nagpur, Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was accused of ball tampering by Australian media. The accusations were sparked by a video that went viral, showing Jadeja rubbing a substance on his finger, leading viewers to believe that he was tampering with the ball.
The video showed Jadeja taking a substance from the palm of teammate Mohammed Siraj and rubbing it on his index finger of his left hand just before he delivered the ball. However, he was not seen rubbing anything on the ball itself. The match referee, Andy Pycroft, sought an explanation from the Indian team management regarding the incident, but no charges were laid against Jadeja.
The Indian team management stated that Jadeja had applied a pain-relief cream to his index finger and nothing unethical had taken place. Meanwhile, India’s captain Rohit Sharma was unbeaten on 85, and the team took lunch on day two at 151-3, closing on Australia’s first innings of 177.
Despite the accusations, Jadeja was still recognized as a hero from the first day with his impressive performance of 5-47 against the Australian tourists. The four-match series is expected to continue with more twists and turns on the Nagpur pitch.
