Webdesk: Simon Cowell disclosed that he has quit smoking after decades of consuming up to forty cigarettes per day.
The music mogul said he has been trying to quit ever since his son Eric was born and found the ability to eventually put a full stop to it about three or four months ago.
“I will confirm that I have resigned. I vape, so I’m not completely smoke-free, but I don’t consume cigarettes. I haven’t smoked in roughly three to four weeks,” the Britain’s Got Talent judge said.
“It was really, really difficult. However, as you’ve undoubtedly heard, I lost my voice a few weeks ago; consequently, I could no longer smoke.
“Then I understood. If I can make it through four days, I can handle a week. I could do a week, two weeks, et cetera, et cetera. Then I simply thought, “Well, this is the time.”
“So knock on wood, perhaps that’s it. I mean, bound to occur sooner or later,” he continued.
After suffering a life-threatening accident in 2022, he made the decision to quit smoking as part of a larger effort to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
“There is a time when something similar occurs in a major catastrophe. And you are currently supine. And there is absolutely nothing you can do about it,” Cowell explained.
“It is the worst sensation imaginable. Thus, at that point, you realise that health is the most important factor. However, I had already said those things.
“And I didn’t really consider it thoroughly. Now I really, really consider it. If you want to live a happy existence, you must prioritise your health as much as possible.”
