KARACHI: As Arabian Sea cyclone Biparjoy approaches Karachi, residents of the DHA, an upmarket neighborhood, told to take precautions.
The tropical storm has strengthened into an Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm (ESCS) and would hit the coastal zone of southeast Sindh between Pakistan/Rann of Kutch-Indian Gujarat beaches by June 15 afternoon.
The DHA has warned citizens to prepare for emergencies due to the growing threat.
“We advise our residents to prepare for the Severe Cyclonic Storm (SCS) BIPARJOY,” DHA Karachi Official tweeted.
Residents should secure basement entrances and windows to prevent stormwater damage and call DHA helpline 1092 in emergencies.
The notice also recommended the following storm preparations.
Moreover, To avoid poundage or excessive water, all compulsory open spaces must be kept clear of infractions.
Clear home gate drains.
All rooftops should be free of unapproved structures and materials.
Roof treatment prevents structure damage.
Secure any exposed power connections.
Clean major holes and pipes.
Section 144 of the CrPC prohibits beachgoing in all coastal regions, including DHA.
From a local eatery to Khayaban-e-Ittehad, Sea View Road obstructed. Khayaban-e-Mujahid traffic is going to the service road, while Khayaban-e-Ittehad traffic is going back to Saba.
Cyclone Biparjoy has prompted the Sindh government to evacuate the coast today.
The PDMA ordered to implement the evacuation plan by tomorrow (June 13), when the storm expected to approach the coast.
While, Baba Bhit, Mubarak Village, Ibrahim Hydri Village, harbor, and other low-lying coastal settlements are evacuated.
Moreover, The conference ordered the Keamari, Malir, South, and Korangi deputy commissioners to evacuate all people by the deadline and move them to safe places or relief camps.
