Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir stated that the people of Pakistan possess mineral resources beneath their feet and skills in their hands, leaving no room for despair.

While addressing the Pakistan Mineral Investment Forum 2025, General Asim Munir expressed his firm belief that Pakistan is ready to emerge as a global leader in the mineral economy. He welcomed international institutions to introduce their expertise, explore investment opportunities, and partner with Pakistan to promote the development of vast resource potential.

The Army Chief highlighted that to harness Pakistan’s mineral wealth, engineers, geologists, operators, and skilled miners are required. For this, the country is also sending students abroad for training. Currently, 27 students from Balochistan are receiving training in mineral exploration in Zambia and Argentina.

General Asim Munir further emphasized the goal of developing a skilled workforce and human resources for the mineral sector. Economic security has emerged as a critical aspect of national security, and the Pakistan Army will ensure a robust security framework to protect the interests and trust of partners and investors.

While speaking at the forum, the Army Chief mentioned that both upstream and downstream mineral industries in Pakistan will be developed. He also emphasized the importance of investment in refining and value addition to improve costs and diversify markets.

He stated, “With vast mineral reserves beneath the feet of the Pakistani people, skills in their hands, and a transparent mineral policy in place, there is no room for despair or inaction. Move forward and strive—for the country and for yourselves.”

The Army Chief assured Pakistani partners and investors that the collective national desire is to benefit from their expertise in utilizing the mineral wealth of the country. He added that they can trust Pakistan as a reliable partner.

He also acknowledged the efforts of Baloch tribal elders who have played a key role in promoting mining activities and the development of Balochistan. Working together, Pakistan’s mineral sector can foster regional development, prosperity, and sustainability for collective benefit.
