ATC transfers eight GHQ attackers to military courts

RAWALPINDI: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Rawalpindi transferred eight suspects of attacking the General Headquarters (GHQ) during the May 9 protests to military courts on Monday.

On May 9, party members allegedly looted government and military facilities in protest of Imran Khan’s detention.

Moreover, The administration brought in the army and said demonstrators would tried under army law to quell the violence. PTI leaders and workers arrested nationwide.

While, After Deputy Prosecutor General Malik Rafqat Ali petitioned ATC Judge Hamid Hussain, the cases transferred to military courts.

Moreover, After Khan’s arrest from the Islamabad High Court, demonstrators who attacked the GHQ charged at the Civil Lines and R A Bazaar Police Stations.

While, Ali Hussain, son of Khalilur Rehman; Lal Shah, son of Jahanzaib; Shehryar Zulfiqar, son of Zulfiqar Ahmed; and Farhad Khan, son of Shahid Hussain Khan, charged in a Civil Lines Police Station FIR.

Moreover, Commanding commander/military officer Farhan Nazir Qureshi requested the transfer of these men for military court trial.

The R A Bazar Police Station FIR names Muhammad Idrees, son of Muhammad Sharif; Umar Farooq, son of Muhammad Sabir; Raja Muhammad Ehsan, son of Muhammad Maqsood; and Muhammad Abdullah, son of Kanwar Muhammad Ashraf Khan.

The ATC ordered the Adyala Jail superintendent to turn over accused persons to superior officers.

The accused transferred to Rawalpindi after an ATC in Lahore approved it last week.

On May 25, an ATC allowed the commanding officer to hand over 16 Jinnah House ransacking and vandalism suspects to the army for trial.

ATC Judge Abher Gul Khan granted the army officer’s motion for the vandals’ incarceration in Camp Jail, Lahore.
