Webdesk: Pakistan Star player Tayyab Tahir said that Pakistan national squad captain Babar Azam’s advice helped him win the Emerging Asia Cup final against India on Sunday.
In Colombo, Sri Lanka, all-round Pakistan Shaheens defeated India A by 128 runs to win the Emerging Asia Cup.
The 29-year-old, who hit 108 off 71 balls, said Babar, the world’s top ODI batsman, encouraged him to stay cool and win.
Sunday’s Player of the Match was his combative performance.
“Babar told me to relax. “Just enjoy the game and you will win,” Tahir told PCB.
“He’s a world-class player who’s played many matches like this. He also claimed we would win the match one-sided, which happened.”
Tahir discussed his ultimate mindset.
I told myself to stay on the crease. I knew I could score more runs by staying on the crease longer. Plan worked.
No one enters thinking of a hundred. “When you’re in the 90s, you naturally start to play more carefully, but I told myself that it’s a big match, so I have to score big,” he continued.
Tahir concluded by thanking his family and team for their support.
Pakistan won the title under skipper Mohammad Haris after defeating India by 128 runs.
Team scored 353 after being asked to bat first thanks to Tahir’s superb century.
Pakistan were in trouble after losing five wickets for 187 runs, but Tahir led the assault against Indian bowlers and struck 108 runs with 12 fours and four sixes at 152.11.
