Dhaka (International News) – A Dhaka court has issued an order to seize the family assets and bank accounts of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wazed.
According to Indian media reports, the court has directed the confiscation of Hasina Wazed’s residence in the Dhanmondi area, known as “Sodashadhan,” along with other properties owned by her family members. The report states that the court also ordered the seizure of 124 bank accounts linked to her family. The ruling was issued by Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Ghalib of the Dhaka Metropolitan Court, following a request from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The residence “Sodashadhan” was named after Sheikh Hasina’s late husband, renowned nuclear scientist MA Wazed Mian, who was affectionately known as “Sodha Mian.” In addition to Sheikh Hasina’s assets, the properties of her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, daughter Saima Wazed Patil, sister Sheikh Rehana, and nieces Tulip Siddiq and Rizwan Mujib Siddiq have also been confiscated.
On February 6, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh formally protested to the Indian government over Sheikh Hasina’s alleged false and fabricated remarks. These statements, shared on social media and other platforms, were perceived as attempts to create instability.
