Karachi: Maqbool Baqar, a retired Supreme Court justice, wants to deal with public problems now that he is about to take the oath of office as Sindh’s caretaker chief minister tomorrow, August 16.
Murad Ali Shah and Rana Ansar met three times to talk about who should be in charge. They chose Baqar just hours before their three-day deadline was up.
Both the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) said they agreed on the choice and had no problems with him.
Shortly after they both decided on the name, a summary sent to Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, who quickly gave his approval.
Then, Sindh Governor Tessori told Geo News that he would be taking his oath of office on August 16.
As soon as the news came out that Justice (ret.) Baqar chosen, he promised to do his part to defend the law and the Constitution.
Baqar told Geo News that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) was in charge of having elections. He also said that they would help the election body.
He said that they would do their best to make sure that the next general elections follow the law and the constitution.
“In such a hard situation, it is a very important job,” he said, adding that he would try to solve the people’s issues.
