Justice (retd) Baqar: Who is Care Taker CM of Sindh?

Karachi: On February 17, 2015, Justice (retd) Baqar elevated from Sindh High Court chief justice to Supreme Court of Pakistan senior judge. He became Sindh’s top judge in September 2013. In April 2022, SC Justice Baqar retired.

After a terrorist group targeted him for his judgements against terrorists, he praised as a brave and good jurist.

Justice (retd) Baqar criticised the judiciary. He publicly criticised the nation’s court system after retiring in April 2022.

After earning his LLB from the University of Karachi, the senior SC judge became an advocate in May 1981. He was born on April 5, 1957. He appointed an additional Sindh High Court (SHC) judge on August 26, 2002, and confirmed the following year.

Moreover, On June 26, 2013, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi militants bombed Justice Baqar in Karachi after his terrorism judgements angered them. While, The attack injured him and police enforcement. The judge returned to work after months of rehabilitation surgery.

While, In the Baldia factory fire case, he awarded the most compensation to arson victims.

Justice (retd) Baqar has often criticised the judiciary.

“I believe that despite our efforts, we have fallen short of expectations,” he said during his Supreme Court farewell statement. All courts are experiencing record delays and pendency. All parties should alarmed.

Moreover, He denounced judicial corruption after retirement. While, At the Karachi Literature Festival in February, Justice (retd) Baqar stated corruption existed in the judiciary and judges appointed based on nepotism, favouritism, and sacrifice of merit.

Moreover, He noted that unethical judges always pleased powerful individuals and never opposed or insulted them, and any complaint against them was ignored.
