Webdesk: Spotify pulled hundreds of Bollywood tracks after a failed contract with Indian record company Zee Music Group.

A licensing agreement between Spotify and Zee Music not reached,” Spotify confirmed to Billboard.

Throughout these conversations, Spotify has attempted to discover innovative approaches to reach an agreement with Zee Music. We will continue to negotiate in good faith in the hopes of reaching an amicable resolution as soon as possible.

Apna Bana Le from the film Bhediya ruled the Indian Spotify charts for several weeks.

Maiyya Mainu from the film Jersey (2022), Makhna from the film Drive (2019), Namo Namo from the film Kedarnath (2018), and Zaalima from the film Raees have also vanished (2017).

Disappointed Spotify users vented their frustrations on social media.

“Does Spotify hold a grudge against Bollywood? Because they are eliminating every decent music. At this point, I will uninstall Spotify,” one user remarked.

“They removed Bollywood songs from Spotify it’s sad,” said another user.

One devoted Bollywood fan told the BBC, “I’m so upset, this is insane,” while another cancelled her Spotify account in response to the removal of tracks.

It is important to note that Spotify has more than 205 million paid subscribers worldwide.
