Karachi: Pakistan’s coastal areas are getting ready for cyclone Biparjoy. On Tuesday, Climate Change Minister Sherry Rehman said that Karcahi “will likely” have urban floods. It is because of how big and strong the winds will be.

The senator wrote on Twitter, “#BiparjoyCyclone is real. People should take @pdmasindhpk and @PDMABalochistan’s warnings about the coast seriously and not freak out.

“So far, I’ve heard that it’s only gotten less bad on the Balochistan side, but it’s very hard to tell, so please don’t take it lightly.

“Its strength changes, but it’s important to be careful, especially near the coast of Sindh. Karachi is expected to have flooding because of how big and strong the winds are. Seaview neighborhoods are being moved out of danger. We’ll keep you in the loop.”

Also, residents of the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) were told to leave their homes in the port city because of higher sea levels.

Evacuation notice

In a very important post on social media, the DHA told its people that they needed to leave their homes and go to safer places.

“Because of the coming cyclone and because the safety and well-being of our community members is our top priority, we want to let you know that DHA residents should leave on their own from June 13, 2023, until the situation is under control,” it said.

The notice also said that this safety step would keep everyone safe until the cyclone problem was fixed.

It’s going to rain later today

The weather in the port city is likely to stay hot and muggy, and dusty winds will blow through the city, according to the meteorological department. There is also a chance of rain with thunder in the afternoon or evening.

The weather forecasting office also said, “The temperature in the morning was 32°C. The high is expected to be between 37°C and 39°C.”

Even though the lowest temperature ever measured in the city is 30.5°C, the humidity is 58%.
