Karachi: Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) said on Monday that the person who planned the terror attack on the Karachi Police Office (KPO) on February 17 and his partner were killed in an encounter.
CTD killed the person who planned the attack, Iriadullah. This happened near the Northern Bypass in the Manghopir neighbourhood of the metropolis.
According to CTD they killed two terrorists including mastermind in a firefight. We also apprehended two of them, claimed CTD officials.
The CTD says that Iriadullah was a commander for the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Karachi. Abdul Waheed was the name of the second terrorist.
Last month, three terrorists with suicide vests went into the KPO building, which has many floors. After that, police commandos and paramilitary soldiers worked for hours to clear the building.
During the operation, all three terrorists were killed, and four people, including two police officers and a sub-inspector from the Sindh Rangers, sacrificed their lives. The operation, which lasted for more than four hours, was very scary.
During this terror attack 17 people including police and Rangers sustained injuries. The attack happened after a suicide attack at a Peshawar Civil Lines mosque killed at least 85 people.
DIG East Muqadas Haider, DIG South Ifran Baloch, DIG Rapid Response Force (RRF) Nasir Aftab, the Special Security Unit (SSU), and the Sindh Rangers took part in the operation. Law enforcement also got help from the Pakistan Army.
Later, a CTD police station opened a case against the TTP.
