The PTI also reported that the party leader arrested at home. He later on taken to the FIA headquarters in the federal capital.

The FIA sources stated the PTI leader arrested after Khan’s cypher probe statement.

Cypher case

Two days after PTI chief Khan imprisoned in Attock Jail for his conviction in the Toshakhana case named in an FIA. FIR under Section 5 of the Official Secrets Act 1923 in the cypher case.

While, The FIA’s counter-terrorism wing charged the former prime minister with deliberately abusing the confidential document after a probe.

The government sources further revealed that the PTI head booked under Section 5 of the amended act. Authorities refused to release the FIR.

Moreover, In July, the FIA questioned Qureshi and PTI leader Asad Umar for over two hours about the controversial US cypher.

Moreover, Qureshi has repeatedly admitted that the US cypher was real. Bolstering the party chief’s assertions that the US overthrew him by supporting the opposition’s no-confidence motion in April.

His chief secretary Azam Khan told the FIA that the former PM had used the US cypher for ‘political gains’. To avoid a vote of no-confidence, the crime became severe.

The former official confessed to being “euphoric” when he gave the ex-premier the cypher, calling it a “US blunder”. Azam said that the former prime minister claimed the cable could used to “create a narrative against establishment and opposition”.

Azam stated the PTI chairman used the US cypher in political events despite his warning. He mentioned that the former prime minister also told him that the cipher could used to divert the public’s attention towards “foreign involvement” in the opposition’s no-confidence motion.
