Webdesk: Meta said its social networking apps were “fixed” after a two-hour outage on Saturday morning.
Nearly 20,000 users worldwide reported problems accessing Facebook, Instagram, and Meta’s WhatsApp messaging programme during the outage.
Pakistan’s platforms malfunctioned between midnight until 3:00am.
Downdetector.com reported that 49% of WhatsApp users couldn’t send messages, 32% couldn’t send voice notes, and 19% couldn’t use the service at all during the same hours.
42% of Instagram users reported app issues, 35% couldn’t log in, and 23% couldn’t load its website. 46% of Facebook users couldn’t log in, 34% couldn’t access the website, and 20% had server connection issues.
Downdetector reported less than 500 outage reports at 22:30 GMT, according to Reuters.
“We know some of you might be experiencing issues with our apps today,” Meta tweeted at 1:45am. We’re trying to restore order fast. Sorry and thanks for your patience.”
It reported a repair at 4:26am.
“Fixed! Our apps should now work normally. “Thanks again,” Meta tweeted.
Meta did not explain the downtime.
Downdetector collects status reports from multiple sources, including user-submitted errors. The outage may affect more users.
The business also fixed Meta’s Ads Manager, which helps brands buy and create Facebook ads.
