Webdesk: On Wednesday, 37 Pakistanis arrived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, as part of the ongoing evacuation plan for Pakistanis in Sudan. In Sudan violence between the military and the well-armed Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary group has caused a humanitarian crisis.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman reported that a ship carrying 37 Pakistanis from Port Sudan arrived in Jeddah.
“They received by Consul General in Jeddah. Khalid Majid on arrival at Jeddah Port,” the spokeswoman tweeted, thanking Saudi Arabia for its assistance and hospitality.
Afterward, On Tuesday, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari announced that the Pakistani diplomatic mission in Sudan had evacuated 700 citizens and was monitoring the nearly 1,500 Pakistanis in the African nation.
After a deadly battle in Khartoum, foreigners are fleeing Sudan. Aid agencies reported 459 deaths and almost 4,000 injuries.
Moreover, Foreign Minister Bilawal reiterated the government’s commitment to protecting abroad Pakistanis by leading the relief and rescue of Pakistanis in Sudan.
“Today, another convoy, carrying 211 Pakistanis dispatched from Khartoum has arrived in Port Sudan,” Bilawal added.
“With the latest convoy, the total number of Pakistanis who evacuated to safety has reached 700,” he said.
The FM tweeted earlier this week that these Pakistanis were staying near the port before departing.
