Lahore: Shehbaz Sharif stepped down as prime minister on Monday. When he got back to his home in Lahore from the capital, Islamabad, given a warm welcome.
Shehbaz gave power to caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar. Kakar took the oath of office as temporary head of government after the National Assembly’s constitutional term ended.
Shehbaz stepped down as prime minister on August 14. When he went back to his home in Lahore, his grandchildren were ready for him.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hamza Shahbaz’s daughter, Samawiyaah Hamza, and Salman Shahbaz’s son, Haider Salman, gave him a bunch of flowers and a hug.
Pakistan will now move on to the election phase, which will happen next year. A new census has been passed by the government that is leaving office, so the election commission will draw up new boundaries.
