U.S. Tariffs on Chinese Products Based on Fentanyl Are Unfounded – Chinese Ministry of Commerce

Beijing (News Desk) – A spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Commerce responded to questions at a press conference regarding the recently released white paper on “China’s Control of Fentanyl-like Substances.”

Speaking on Saturday, Chinese media reported that the white paper comprehensively and systematically presents China’s stance, measures, and achievements in controlling fentanyl-like substances to various sectors and the international community.

The document clearly demonstrates that the U.S. decision to impose a 20% tariff on Chinese products under the pretext of fentanyl is entirely unfounded. It exemplifies protectionism, unilateralism, and coercion.

The spokesperson urged the United States to correct its wrongful actions, adopt an objective and rational approach to the issue, and handle it appropriately rather than resorting to baseless accusations.
