Webdesk: Grant Gustin and Candice Patton recently acknowledged their choice to depart The Flash after season 9, regardless of whether the show would continue.
Gustin told Entertainment Weekly that he almost left earlier but decided to stay.
After being married in season 5 and having a child in season 7, Gustin thought about abandoning the series after season 8. He stayed for season 9 after talking to executive producer Greg Berlanti.
When he left after season 9, Gustin didn’t sure if the show would continue without him as the hero.
If the show had continued to season 10 while he worked on other projects, he would have questioned his decision. He was relieved when the final season was 13 episodes and the series conclusion.
Iris West-Allen actress Patton also said she had considered leaving the show. She spoke with Carlos Valdes, Tom Cavanagh, and Jesse L. Martin, former series actors, to learn from their experiences. She left after season 9, unaware that it was the show’s last.
Patton noted how The Flash affected her own existence. Living away from home for nine years and missing normalcy, she mentioned her sacrifices. She thanked the staff for their memories as the show ended.
In season 7, Valdes departed the programme to prioritise his mental health and explore other possibilities. He had to follow his personal compass and make the best option for himself despite his commitment to the fans and show.
After season 6, Cavanagh left as a series regular but returned for later seasons, including the finale. He stressed the significance of not overstaying and the thrill of playing a supervillain like the Reverse-Flash. He viewed returning for numerous seasons a blessing.
