Karachi: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), said on Monday that most of the country could have heatwave-like weather this week.
Due to high pressure in the upper atmosphere, the Met Office says that the country’s daytime temperatures expected to rise gradually from June 20 to June 24.
In upper and central Punjab, Islamabad, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir, daytime temperatures are likely to be 4°C to 6°C above normal.
The temperature expected to be 2°C to 4°C above normal in Sindh, south Punjab, and parts of Balochistan.
The Met department also said that dust storms and rain could happen in scattered places (pockets) in the country’s plains and hilly areas during this time.
Possible effects and what to do
The PMD said that because the temperature is going up, water and gas use will go up in the next few days.
It said that farmers should make sure their crops get enough water, and that people in general should not spend too much time in full sunlight.
