Humayun Saeed’s ten-year acting career may have peaked with Netflix’s The Crown, but a scene between his character, Dr. Hasnat Khan, and Elizabeth Debicki’s character, Diana, sparked a controversial debate on social media.
Saeed was recently on the talk show The Fourth Umpire, where he was asked about a scene from The Crown that had gone viral online in Pakistan.
During the show, co-host Qasim Sheikh took the chance to ask Saeed, “You worked on a show called The Crown, which was a huge hit in Pakistan because of just one scene. Do you know what scene I am talking about?”
After a brief pause, Saeed asked, “Kiss scene ki wajah se (Which scene are you referring to)?” (Which kiss scene are you talking about?) Sheikh asked again, “Kiss scene ki baat kar raha hoon, you know what I am talking about”
When Saeed heard this, he told an unfinished story. “Usmein aik scene tha jismein aisa lagta hai ke mein kar raha hoon, lekin yeh sach nahi hai (Well, there was one scene in which it seems that I’m doing that, but that’s not the case),” Saeed said with a laugh.
“Kya kar rahe hou (What were you doing)?” the host asked him again, making fun of him. “Acting, acting kar rahe hain ap (You were acting, right)?” (You were acting, right?)
“Acting hi kar raha hoon, lekin mein nahi kar raha acting (I am acting, yes, but I’m really not acting),” said the Meray Paas Tum Ho actor.
Then, Sheikh, the other host, asked Saeed another question. “Qoam yeh jana chahti hai ke apko kaisa laga (The world wants to know how do you feel after doing that scene)?” he asked.
“Muhjay acting achi lagi, larki ki (I loved my co-acting),” star’s (My co-acting star’s was great, too), said Saeed, who blushed and did not say anything else.
