Lahore: Former Prime Minister Imran Khan, criticized the Punjab caretaker government. Stated that the Punjab government is hiding the truth about the death of PTI worker Ali Bilal. He also asked the Lahore High Court (LHC) to set up a judicial commission to look into the matter.
Bilal, also known as Zillay Shah, died on March 8,. When the caretaker Punjab government used force to stop a rally called to start the party’s campaign.
Dr. Usman Anwar, the Inspector General (IG) of Punjab, denied the PTI’s claims that the provincial government killed Bilal. He said the incident was just a “road accident case”. Unfortunately, few people misinterpreted it, he added.
In his first speech after the LHC lifted the ban on his speeches, Imran hit back hard at the government. He called the Punjab police “savages” and said he couldn’t believe “what they did to a special person (Bilal).”
“Police are doing everything they can to hide what happened. They put his family members in jail and are now forcing people to lie to cover it up.”
Save country from becoming Banana Republic
Imran told the judges that they were the only ones who could keep the country from becoming a “banana republic”. The head of the PTI said, “I have no hope from the government. I have asked Punjab’s chief justice to form a judicial commission today to look into what happened to Bilal.”
He also asked the Election Commission of Pakistan to ask the caretaker chief minister, the IG, and the police officer in charge of Lahore’s capital city to resign right away. “You chose them… so they should quit today,” the former prime minister told them.
“His death hurts me,” Imran said. “No one had ever said anything bad about him.”
The ex-prime minister said that Bilal had “at least 60 marks” on his body, which showed that he had been tortured.
Imran kept going after Punjab’s caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, accusing him of “working with criminals because he hates the PTI.”
“They don’t see people as real people. He said, “They think they’re sheep.” “First, they said I killed my worker, and now they say it was an accident.”
The head of the PTI said that he would remember the faces of “these” people. He also said that “many police [officers] are saying that they had nothing to do with this, and that “unknown people” were the ones who tortured Bilal.
Imran also told Naqvi that the people who were sitting next to him at the press conference would soon become “approvers” against him in this case.
