Lahore: Imran Khan is conducting a rally from Zaman Park to Data Darbar after receiving permission from the local authority.
The party was unable to obtain relief from the Election Commission or the Lahore High Court. The party pleads against the caretaker Punjab government’s order to impose Section 144 in the provincial capital.
The interim Punjab administration enacted Section 144 in response to a PSL match at the Qaddafi Stadium and a marathon.
Yet, in a notification issued on Sunday, the administration permitted the PTI to hold the demonstration on today. Despite the fact that it posed a “high-security risk” due to “general and specific threats against political gatherings.”
Moreover, The authorization was granted in exchange for the organizer’s assurance that he would be held accountable for any unpleasant incidents. The notification also prohibited criticism of constitutional offices, such as the military and the courts.
Today’s election rally began in Zaman Park, with Imran driving a bulletproof vehicle.
PTI Leadership on Rally
Afterward, Fawad Chaudhry, senior vice president of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), commented on the magnitude of the gathering. He stated, “Observe the scenes of the rally in Lahore at this moment. You will realize that halting Imran Khan is tantamount to inviting the fury of the people.”
Before the demonstration began, PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi told the media, “I will tell the administration that we must remain peaceful, that we have remained peaceful, and that we do not want disruption. We have no intention of disrupting the peace, and this is not the mentality or strategy of our party.”
He demanded that the authorities “stop erecting barriers” along the path of the protest. Qureshi stated that the PTI chairman would speak at the conclusion of the gathering and that a “important announcement” would be made.
He stated that the rally would begin in Zaman Park, go to Data Darbar, and then return to the PTI chief’s Lahore residence.
