Webdesk: WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, keeps making life easier by giving its users more privacy on the messaging app.

WaBetaInfo says that the instant messaging app is getting a new update that will let users lock and hide chats.

The new update, called “lock chat,” is still being worked on and is not yet ready for beta testers. It will be added to the app in a future update.

Users will be able to lock certain chats with their fingerprint or a passcode after this update. This would give users an extra layer of protection. As well as make it easy for them to keep their private conversations from being overheard.

WhatsApp is working on a feature that would let you lock your most private chats. The option will be right in the chat’s contact or group info.

The website , “Once you add a chat to your list of locked chats. You can only access it from this screen. Once a chat is locked, it can only be opened with the user’s fingerprint or passcode. This will make it nearly impossible for anyone else to open the chat.”

A locked chat can’t be opened without a fingerprint or passcode, and if someone else tries to open it and doesn’t have the right authentication, they will have to clear the chat before they can open it.

With this feature, people won’t be able to read or peek at your messages, and media files like photos and videos sent in a locked chat won’t be automatically saved in the phone’s gallery.
