Islamabad: Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Tuesday that claims that May 25, which is Pakistan Martyrs Day, will be a public holiday are false.

The ministry took to Twitter to share the notice about the holiday that was sent out a while ago. It said, “Spreading #FakeNews is not only unethical and illegal, but it also hurts the country.

“It is everyone’s job to say no to reckless behaviour. Don’t believe #FakeNews.

The Ministry of Information said that the notice about the Martyrs Day break is not real.

A notice went out earlier that the federal government had made May 25 a public holiday.

Pakistan Private Schools Federation (APPSF), on the other hand, said that no schools would be open on May 25.

Kashif Mirza, the president of APPSF, said that board tests will happen as planned, but classes will start back up on May 26 as planned.

Mirza said that all of the country’s summer vacations will begin on June 15 and end on August 14. He also said that schools will return on August 15.

The president also said that the state of Sindh will have summer vacation from June 1 to July 31.
