Information minister denies PM Shehbaz taking confidence vote.

Shehbaz Sharif

Islamabad: Marriyum Aurangzeb denied that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would face a vote of confidence in the National Assembly.

Since taking office in April last year, the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM)-led administration has faced frequent demonstrations. These were from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), a struggling economy, and a recent impasse with the court.

“The prime minister decided not to call a vote of confidence.” “There were no such consultations, and there is no need for the [confidence vote],” Aurangzeb tweeted.

The minister described Shehbaz, who took office on April 11, 2022, as the “unanimous” choice of the people. As well as the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), and the coalition parties.

Moreover, The minister of information stated that “rumours” are not facts. She advised media outlets not to print news articles about the prime minister “without verification.”

The minister’s post came after sources told that the premier has decided to hold a vote of confidence this week. It is following meetings with PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif.

According to sources, the prime minister has asked that legislators from the ruling parties be present in Islamabad for the vote.
