Webdesk: As the battle for the Oval Office heats up, candidates have begun to criticise each other.
Nikki Haley, a Republican presidential candidate in 2024, predicted that Kamala Harris will lead the race since US President Joe Biden, 80, anticipated to die within five years if he wins a second term.
“He announced that he’s running again in 2024,” 51-year-old Haley told Fox News. “I think that we can all be very clear and say with a matter of fact that if you vote for Joe Biden you really are counting on a President Harris because the idea that he would make it until 86 years old is not something that I think is likely.”
White House deputy press secretary Andrew Bates told “as you know, we don’t directly respond to campaigns from here. I forgot she was running.”
On Tuesday, octogenarian Biden launched his re-election campaign with a video focused on “MAGA” Republicans, referring to former President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again.”
The former UN ambassador ran for president as a “new generation” leader.
She proposed a mental capacity screening for legislators over 75 in her announcement address. First lady Jill Biden called it “ridiculous”.
Biden, the oldest US president, is fighting ageism.
Biden is healthy and fit, according to White House explanations.
In his reelection announcement video, he runs in a suit.

The White House’s spreadsheet shows the President’s extensive travel schedule in the first months of the year, surpassing President Barack Obama’s during a comparable time in the 2012 campaign.
“And with regard to age, I can’t even say I guess how old I am,” Biden remarked Wednesday during a joint news conference with his South Korean counterpart Yoon Suk Yeol. The number is unmentionable. I’m unaware. I examined it before running. I’m good.”
Biden previously said “watch me” to age-related questions about his fitness for office.
