RAWALPINDI: General (ret.) Qamar Javed Bajwa’s comment about “combat worthiness” was “quoted out of context,” the military’s media wing said on Friday.

ISPR made the comment after the media talked about the “combat readiness of the Pakistan Army. In light of the state of some of its weapon systems.”

“To this end, views of the former army chief about the future threat to Pakistan. Which he shared with media people in an off-the-record interactive session, have been quoted out of context,” the ISPR said.

The military’s media arm told the public that the army will always be proud of its “operational preparedness. As well as utmost combat worthiness.”

Moreover, The ISPR said, “Pakistan’s Armed Forces have always kept their weapons, equipment, and battle-hardened human resources ready to defend the motherland.”

While, The comment came after journalist Hamid Mir said on a TV show that General (ret.) Bajwa told 20–25 journalists that Pakistan was not ready to go to war with India. Bajwa said this in a meeting with the journalists.

Afterward, Indian news outlets picked up on Mir’s statement and put it in big outlets.
