Webdesk: A Kuwaiti news outlet has shown off an AI-made virtual newsreader that can read online bulletins. On Twitter, a picture of Fedha, the virtual host, showed a woman with her hair down.

In the tweet that the news outlet sent out, Fedha talks about herself in Arabic in a video. “My name is Fedha, and I’m the first presenter in Kuwait to use AI at Kuwait News. How do you like to get your news? “Tell me what you think,” she says.

Kuwait News was started in 1961 as the country’s first English-language daily newspaper. Its linked to The Kuwait Times. Abdullah Boftain, who is the deputy editor-in-chief for both sites, says that Fedha could learn to speak with a Kuwaiti accent and give news updates on the site’s Twitter account in the future.

“Fedha is an old and well-known name in Kuwait that means “silver.” We always think of robots as silver and shiny, so Boftain told The Guardian that he combined the two ideas. The deputy editor thinks that Fedha speaks for all of Kuwait.

Everyone on social media, including journalists, different thoughts about the 13-second video that posted.
