LAHORE: Chaudhry Parvez Elahi’s son moved petition in the LHC against the late-night raid on his father’s Lahore home.

A large group of Punjab Police officers went to Elahi’s home on Friday night to arrest him. This led to harsh criticism from the party, which has been upset about the arrests of its workers and leaders.

Sohail Zafar Chattha, the Director General of Punjab’s Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE), and the rest of the police force left the scene. Ending the hours-long police activity.

According to the FIR the police also nabbed 19 people during the raid on charges of terrorism and resistance. The FIR said, “The ACE team went to Parvez Elahi’s house to try to arrest him.”

It also said that about 40 to 50 people inside the house threw stones and got violent. The FIR also said that people threw petrol bombs at the police, which is when Elahi left his home.

In the meantime, Rasikh Elahi asked the court to step in through a plea that included the Punjab government. The ACE, and the inspector general (IG) of Punjab.

Violation of Fundamental Rights

The late-night raid was called “illegal and a violation of fundamental rights” in the petition. It also said that the court had given bail until May 6 in the case against cheating.

The petition also asked the court to “clear the Zahoor Ellahi Road from the illegal occupation of police and direct the respondents to leave the petitioner’s house. If there is a FIR against the petitioner, it should be brought before this Honourable Court.”

It also asked the court to protect the petitioner’s basic rights and tell the police to stop the raid/operation and not arrest Elahi until his bail ran out.

Rasikh also asked the court to punish those who took part in the “illegal raid” and “misused their power and violated the petitioner’s fundamental rights.”
