Webdesk: Luke Bryan defends Katy Perry from ‘American Idol’ viewers.
Bryan defended Perry to Fox News Digital.
For those unaware, Perry has been a judge on American Idol since its 2018 relaunch, and her earlier statements about candidates have garnered a lot of criticism.
Fans and detractors have even booed her.
Moreover, Bryan tried to shake off the unwelcome focus.
“Katy Perry’s been dealing with stuff like that her whole career,” he said.
“We understand… We’re judging youngsters that parents love. Judges won’t hit 1,000.”
“I think we get set up,” he added. As judges, “we kinda fall on the sword a lot.”
“And set up so people can get very vocal on socials and stuff.”
“Moreover, When me, Lionel, and Katy sit down at the desk, in our hearts, we’re doing the best we can.”
“While, Katy gets picked on for going out and trying to have fun making a TV show,” he said in his interview, calling the response unnecessary.
When you’re homogenized, you can’t joke. Have fun. Say stuff sometimes. Next year may be mine.”
“It makes me appreciate her even more, just how big of a scale she’s had to deal with that her whole career,” he said.
