U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a phone conversation with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. The two foreign ministers discussed strengthening the U.S.-India strategic partnership and increasing cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
According to the U.S. State Department, the conversation also addressed the retaliatory tariffs imposed by the U.S. on India, and how to advance toward establishing transparent and balanced trade relations.
Earlier, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio also had a phone conversation with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar. A U.S. State Department spokesperson stated that Marco Rubio thanked the Pakistani government for the arrest and extradition of ISIS terrorist Sharif Allah, and both leaders emphasized continuing counter-terrorism cooperation.
