KARACHI: The PMD said that the fishermen of Balochistan can go back to work now. As the fear of cyclone Biparjoy has passed after it turned into a weak state.
According to the latest weather report from the Met Department, fishermen in Balochistan can go fishing today, while those in Sindh can get back to work on Sunday.
The PMD said that the cyclonic storm (CS) Biparjoy had moved to the northeast and turned into a depression in the last 12 hours.
The system is currently over southwest Rajasthan, India, and parts of southeast Pakistan that are close by. It is near Latitude 24.4°N and Longitude 71.2E, in a place called Tharparker.
PMD said that it expected to move farther east and weaken into a low-pressure area over Rajasthan, which will cause heavy rain and wind in the affected areas.
After hitting the Indian coast on Friday, the hurricane knocked down power lines and uprooted trees, but the storm was not as bad as was feared, and only two people were killed.
Before it hit land on Thursday evening, more than 180,000 people in the Indian state of Gujarat and the Pakistani province of Sindh ran away from Biparjoy, which means “disaster” in Bengali.
The Gujarat state government said that two men in the Bhavnagar district drowned Thursday night in flood water.
Aid head CC Patel told AFP that 23 more people hurt in the storm.
In Pakistan, the cyclone didn’t do much damage, but it did rain in some parts of Karachi, which was on high alert because it is a big city in the south.
