A review meeting on the current year’s development budget and the plans for the next financial year’s PSDP was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, in which the details related to the proposed development projects for next year and the funds required for them were considered, while the current year’s PSDP was also reviewed. Addressing the meeting, the Prime Minister said that the ministries with better performance will be provided with budget on priority basis for development projects. He said that public money will be invested in development projects that have certain results.
According to the Prime Minister, water storage and hydropower projects are among the top priorities for spending the development budget, while projects to increase water storage will also be given priority. The meeting was also informed about the progress made in the construction of national water storage and hydropower projects, including Dasu Dam, Diamer Bhasha Dam and Mohmand Dam.
The Prime Minister praised Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb for the successful issuance of Panda Bonds and its acceptance in the market. The meeting also appreciated the performance of the Railways, IT and Power ministries, while instructions were given to encourage public-private partnerships in development projects as much as possible. The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Ahad Khan Cheema, Rana Tanveer Hussain, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Hanif Abbasi, Sardar Owais Khan Leghari, Abdul Aleem Khan, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kayani, Special Assistant Haroon Akhtar and relevant senior officials attended.
