Lahore: After meeting with the leaders of PTI the district administration gave the party permission to hold an election rally in Lahore today.
Sources with knowledge of the situation said that Punjab caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi ordered the meeting to happen.
During the meeting, the PTI’s leaders gave the city’s administration an affidavit that said they would work with the police and security officials.
The former ruling party ensured the government that they will follow the law of sound system. At the rally, people won’t be able to say anything bad about the government or the law, the PTI agreed.
The affidavit says that the PTI will be responsible in case of any loss to public property during rally.
Imran Khan had to cancel his election rally earlier in the day because the interim government wouldn’t lift Section 144.
Imtiaz Shaikh, who is the president of the PTI Lahore Chapter, says that a rally will start at 2 p.m. today from Zaman Park and go to Data Darbar.
He said, “Imran Khan will be in charge of the rally.”
This would be Khan’s first rally in more than four months. He was organising the party from his home in Zaman Park in the capital of Punjab. The head of the PTI had been “recovering” at home from an injury he got last year.
Life attempt on Imran Khan took place on November 3 as he waved to crowds from a truck-mounted container. He was leading a protest march to Islamabad to get the government to call an early election.
General elections are set for April 30 in Punjab, but the date for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa hasn’t been set yet because Governor Ghulam Ali hasn’t made a decision.
