Peshawar: Peshawar High Court (PHC) released Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) prominent leader Ali Muhammad Khan from Mardan jail.

Khan arrested by the Islamabad capital territory police on May 11 under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order Order (MPO) in connection with the violent protests sparked by the arrest of PTI chief Imran Khan on May 9 in a corruption case.

Enraged party activists allegedly vandalised private and public facilities, including military structures like the Lahore Corps Commander’s House or Jinnah House and the General Headquarters (GHQ) entrance in Rawalpindi, during the days-long protests that stopped only after the PTI chief’s release. The protests killed eight individuals.

Since then, the PTI leader released by the court just to arrested again.

Khan spent 80 days in eight “bogus cases,” according to the PTI’s Twitter account.

Today, the PHC granted the PTI leader bail and released him from prison.

PHC Justices Ijaz Anwar and Fazal Subhan heard Khan’s bail application.

Justice Anwar asked why Ali Muhammad Khan arrested during the proceedings.

The Mardan assistant deputy commissioner informed the court that the PTI leader arrested under MPO Section 3.

The PHC court stated the PTI leader had been in jail for two months. “How did Ali Muhammad Khan disrupt law and order?” Anwar asked.

The judge ordered the deputy commissioner to attend the next hearing.

If a deputy commissioner punished, no officer will do illegal work, he warned.

The PHC postponed the case until August 8.
