Another day passes, and another legend departs.

Sunday, at the age of 80, veteran actor Qavi Khan, who was receiving treatment in Canada for a kidney disease, passed away. Several celebrities, politicians, and friends expressed their condolences to his family and paid him heartfelt tributes on social media in response to the news of his passing.

The passing of the recipient of the Pride of Performance and Sitara-i-Imtiaz awards is a further blow to the entertainment industry, as many individuals told The Express Tribune. “Qavi khan’s passing is a national tragedy. “He was a brilliant actor who left behind a void that will never be filled,” actor Javed Sheikh told the publication. “Today, the entire artistic community is depressed. He added, “I pray that Allah grants him a place in Jannat al-Firdous.”

“I am shocked and sad,” said the actor Sakeena Samoo. “Qavi Khan was an actor of legend. He contributed greatly to the television industry. His entire career is evidence of what a brilliant performer he was. He was a great actor, but he was also a gentleman and a wonderful human being,” she stated.

The senior actor Ghulam Mohiuddin told The Express Tribune that Qavi khan was among the country’s stars who did a great deal to entertain the public during the PTV era. “I recall that Mirza Ghalib was a popular drama. Qavi appeared in numerous successful PTV productions and was one of the most famous actors of all time.”

Actor and director Jamal Shah added, “Qavi khan sahab was an extraordinarily talented artist who devoted himself to TV, film, radio, and the stage.” He had a very lengthy, productive, and fruitful career in the industry. He was a true legend who set extremely high standards for all of us to attain. He was a highly disciplined, incredibly kind man who spread positive energy everywhere. Khan has left a void that cannot be filled, but his body of work will always “entertain, educate, and inspire us,” according to Shah.

A performer par Excellence

Simi Raheal, a fellow actor and friend, posted an Instagram photo with the deceased performer alongside a lengthy tribute. She wrote, “The legend, professional, artist, teacher, friend, husband, and father has passed away.” “This photograph was taken of us in 1991. I knew him very well and for a very extended period of time. We collaborated on a number of projects together; his smile, patience, and modesty are uncommon. She continued, “I have so many memories of a revered and admired great artist; he will be greatly missed.

Actor Humayun Saeed also posted a message on the photo-sharing app: “An icon, an inspiration, an institution. Qavi Khan taught many of us not only how to act, but also how to embrace our passion by devoting his entire life to acting, his one true passion. May God bless his soul”

In an Instagram post, actor Yasir Hussain also expressed his love and respect for the deceased actor. “Will miss you Qavi sahab. I was onstage with you, but I did not share the screen. Nevertheless, I learned a great deal from you despite our brief time together. You were such a gentle spirit and a formidable actor. No one could better illustrate what a monologue is than Qavi sahab. Love you, sir. “May you rest in peace,” he wrote below a photo of the deceased icon.

Host and actor Fahad Mustafa remarked, “It is heartbreaking to learn of the passing of the legendary Qavi sahab. Such a devastating loss for the industry. I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to collaborate with him on Quaid e Azam Zindabad. He was a virtuoso in his field and had such a genuine and pristine soul.”

Actor Sajal Aly tweeted, “Qavi khan sahab was not only a great actor, but also one of the greatest people I had the privilege of working with. May his ranks soar to the heavens!”

While Saboor Aly, who co-starred with Khan in the short film Nanu Aur Main for See Prime, shared an endearing photo with the late actor from the play, he also paid tribute to the actor’s legacy with a touching video. She captioned the post, “You were such a beautiful human being, and for the way you loved us and taught us, we will be eternally grateful. It is inconceivable that you are no longer present. I’ll miss you, Nano”

Actor Adnan Sami lamented, “Deeply saddened to hear of the passing of legendary actor Muhammad Qavi Khan sahab.” He was unquestionably among the best! I offer his family my sincerest condolences…”

A Star

Khan, who was born in Peshawar, began his career at Radio Pakistan as a child actor. His mesmerising performances in Mirza Ghalib and Koi Na Adda Sanj Milj are evidence of his development as an actor. He was featured in numerous dramas, such as Andhera Ujala, Fishar, Lahore Gate, Mutthi Bhar Mitti, Betiyan, Cinderella, and Dure Shahwar. In addition to television and the stage, he consistently demonstrated his artistic talent through film.

With films such as Muhabbat Zindagi Hai, Chand Suraj, Sarfrosh, Kalay Chor, Zameen Aasman, and Pari, he carved out a unique niche for himself on the silver screen. After a lengthy career in television, theatre, and film as an actor, he eventually landed in the director’s chair. Qavi became fixated on the idea of filmmaking. But it was a business that exceeded his creative abilities. He was too naive for distributors’ and exhibitors’ deceitful methods. This endeavour resulted in significant financial loss.

Qavi also wed in 1968 and had four children, all of whom now reside overseas. The actor also travelled the world, but he felt tied to his homeland.

Khan’s most recent film was Fizza Ali Meerza and Nabeel Qureshi’s Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad, which also starred Mahira Khan and Fahad Mustafa. Meri Shehzadi, directed by Urwa Hocane and starring Ali Rehman Khan, was his most recent television project. Khan appeared on the programme as Hocane’s grandfather. Due to his failing health, he left the project, however.

Khan was honoured with numerous awards and accolades for his invaluable contributions to the industry, including the presidential award, Pride of Performance, for his exceptional performance, Sitara-i-Imtiaz, the LSA lifetime achievement award, and three Nigar awards. Khan provided the industry with his identity, location, and cherished memories.
