Webdesk: Ratna Pathak Shah will soon be in a new web series called Happy Family Conditions Apply. In it, she plays a Gujrati housewife who says funny one-liners. As a person, she always says what’s on her mind. In a recent interview, she criticises actors who have assistants do all their work for them.
She told Film Companion how she saw an actor ask his assistant to go get him some coffee. She said, “I have seen actors on a plane who won’t even ask for a cup of coffee. The assistant brings the coffee, the assistant opens the cup, the actor takes a sip, and the assistant takes it back. How old are you? A baby who is three months old? Is tarah ka dependance! What do you think, my brother and I? (such dependance, give it a thought my brothers and sisters). There is more to life than this. That seems so dangerous to me! So dangerous!”
A video of her criticising actors who can’t do their own chores was shared on Instagram. Benny Dayal, a singer, said of her, “She is just awesome! I like to carry my own bags and not let anyone else do it for me. By God’s grace, I am strong and healthy enough to carry it myself, unless I have a fever or something.” Someone said they had seen Ratna on a flight and wrote, “I sat next to her in a row on a flight once. When she talked to the airline workers, she seemed very humble and polite. That was actually the second time I had seen her. Very grounded and friendly. No problem.”
