Webdesk: Anoushey Ashraf, a radio and video DJ from Pakistan, hopped in a rickshaw to try to make the ride normal in Karachi, a city where cars take up more space than people.
Someone offered the popular TV host a ride when they saw her getting into a rickshaw the other day, as she said in a tweet.
“When someone saw me getting into a rickshaw today, they gave me a ride out of kindness. I thought it would be fun, since it was close to home, not too dangerous (you can jump out), and inexpensive “she wrote on her Twitter account.
She would call herself a “The 39-year-old TV personality wrote: “But seeing a “well-off” person in a rick can really worry people here! Make public transport the same for everyone.”
Anoushey was excited to share her not-so-often “cheap” “adventure” on her handle, but netizens didn’t want to put up with her “privileged” and “tone-deaf” idea of a rickshaw ride, especially since inflation is at a record high in the country where she lives.
People on Twitter called RJ out for her “blind privilege” and taught her a lesson.
“It’s something we do every day,” one user wrote, quoting Anoushey.
“Elite class has its own swag,” someone else joked.
One person said that a ride in a rickshaw is nowhere near as cheap as the VJ says it is. “Rick is also pretty pricey,” the Twitter user wrote.
