Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shahbaz Gill has made an apology to Member of National Assembly (MNA) Ramesh Kumar for the remarks he made against the minority lawmaker during a television talk show last year. The PTI leader visited Kumar’s home on Saturday and expressed regret for the comments he made on a private TV channel ahead of the vote of no confidence against Prime Minister Imran Khan.
In a tweet, Gill acknowledged that he is facing several cases including defamation cases filed by the Sharif family, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, and others, which he will fight in court. He went on to say, “Ramesh Kumar is from a minority, so I went to him today because my struggle is against the class system, and I don’t want to fight with any minority.”
Ramesh also tweeted about the apology, stating, “Today Shahbaz Gill came to my home to apologize and express regret over the remarks.” He further added, “As it is our tradition in Sindh when someone comes to our home, we forgive them.” Ramesh also announced that he would withdraw the defamation case he had filed against the PTI leader.
It is worth noting that last year, Shahbaz Gill used inappropriate language towards Ramesh Kumar during a television show. With Gill’s apology and the withdrawal of the defamation case, the matter has now been resolved.
