Webdesk: On Saturday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif went to Ankara with other world leaders to see President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan take office.
The prime minister congratulated President Erdogan on being re-elected as the president of Turkey on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan. He also wished him continued success.
During his short talk with the Turkish president and his wife, Emine Erdogan, PM Shehbaz gave Erdogan his best wishes and a special gift. He also told Erdogan what was special about the gift.
He told Erdogan and the first lady, “I brought you Pakistani mangoes. Half of them are for my brother [Erdogan], and the other half are for my sister [Emine].”
The Turkish president and his wife smiled when they heard what PM Shehbaz had to say. They said they knew what Pakistani peaches taste like and how sweet they are.
Emine also thanks PM Shehbaz for giving her the fruit. Erdogan was glad that the prime minister came to the oath-taking event after accepting his invitation.
Pakistan and Turkey have been friends for a long time, and their relationship goes beyond time and space. Both countries have always helped each other out when they needed it and cheered each other on when they did well.
The president thanked the prime minister and told him that he felt the same way. He also sent his best wishes to the Pakistani government and people.
Erdogan took the oath of office in parliament after winning a rare runoff election to extend his two-decade rule. He promised to serve “impartially” for the next four years.
