Webdesk: Sonakshi Sinha talks about her character at the launch of the trailer for her show Dahaad.
Sonakshi said this about her role: “I mean, why should guys have all the fun? I think it’s time to start showing real, strong women the way they really are. There are so many stories to tell, and this is just one that came to me. I think I got lucky with this one. As an actor, you don’t often get roles that “smack you in the face” and make you think, “I have to do this.”
Sonakshi was in Mumbai on May 3 to promote her show. There, she said that her role in the crime-thriller show is different from Salman Khan’s role as Chulbul Pandey in Dabangg.
The actor from Double XL said, “So this was a role I haven’t played before. As a police officer, I think it’s very different from a cop like Chulbul Pandey. She is very real, as ma’am (Ex-IPS Officer Dr. Meeran Chadha Borwarkar) said. She is very uncooked. Sonakshi a woman like that. It was a great honour for me to play her on screen.”
Shatrughan Sinha’s daughter says that the way female cops are shown in movies hasn’t changed much over time.
“I have travelled a lot and seen a lot. Right now, there isn’t a single character that really stands out. I hope that Anjali Bhaati’s character will be the one that people think of when they talk about how women cops are shown on screen. I hope that by the end of it, people will say, “Most of these have such women.
Pinkvilla says that Sonakshi Sinha’s Dahaad, a police show with 8 episodes, will come out on May 12.
