Islamabad: On Tuesday, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif announced that an Afghan delegation would soon visit Pakistan. Delegation will continue talks on several issues, including regional security and counter-terrorism measures.
Last week, a high-level Pakistani delegation led by Asif visited Kabul to discuss issues ranging from security to bilateral cooperation. The two sides discussed the growing threat of terrorism from the TTP and ISKP in the region.
The official statement from Afghanistan on February 22 stated that the two countries should have cordial relations. And expand commercial and economic relations. He vowed that Pakistan would fight terrorism as it has in the past and promised accountability for those who agreed to fight “America’s war” in the 80s.
Asif also accused his political rival Imran Khan of making no political decisions without the establishment’s help and wanting to appoint the army chief of his choice to remain in power for another five years. Khuwaja Asif urged the courts to treat the PTI chief like past politicians.
