Webdesk: Thanks to a 10-run seventh inning, the Tampa Bay Rays came back from being down 3-0 to beat the Chicago White Sox 12-3 on Saturday night.
Lance Lynn was on a no-hitter until the seventh inning, but Wander Franco’s home run let the Rays score a lot of runs. Randy Arozarena and Josh Lowe both hit home runs in the same inning, and Franco drove in three of them.
The White Sox have now lost ten games in a row, while the Rays have won nine of their last eleven. They have also won all 12 games they have played away from home this season.
The White Sox took the lead in the second inning when Elvis Andrus hit a two-run single. This was possible because Rays starter Calvin Faucher was throwing the ball all over the place. In the sixth, Eloy Jimenez hit a double that drove in a run, but after that, the Rays bullpen kept the White Sox from scoring any more runs. Yonny Chirinos led the charge. In 4 2/3 innings, he gave up only one run and three hits. The eighth inning, Francisco Mejia hit a solo home run for the Rays. In the ninth, Arozarena hit his second home run of the night.
Lynn gave up four runs and three hits in 6 1/3 innings and got the loss for the White Sox. Bummer and Lambert both gave up three runs in the seventh inning. The manager took Luis Robert out of the game in the second inning because he seemed to run slowly out of the box in his first at-bat.
With the win, the Rays’ record goes up to 16-14, while the White Sox’ record goes down to 13-15. On Sunday, the two teams will play again
