Islamabad: In yet another attempt to spread misinformation about Pakistan. India media outlets published an unverified image of a padlocked grave. Indian Media claimed that it was common in Pakistan for parents to padlock the graves of their deceased ‘daughters’. They reported it is to prevent them from being raped.
Most major Indian news outlets, including Asian News International (ANI), the Times of India reported this story. As well as News18, Times Now, NDTV, and ThePrint, also reported it.
Robert Spencer, director of Jihad Watch, initially tweeted the image, which gained significant traction across social media platforms.
In order to verify the news, the image cross-checked using Google Maps’ street view services by fact-checkers. They discovered that its taken at a cemetery in Hyderabad, India.
In Hyderabad, India, the cemetery is located opposite Masjid-e-Salar Mulk, a mosque in Darab Jung Colony, Madannapet.
