Webdesk: The International Space Station (ISS) manoeuvred out of the way of an Earth-imaging satellite that was in its straight route.

The docked Progress 83 cargo ship’s thrusters were fired for around six minutes to increase the station’s orbit and prevent a collision.

In addition, Dr. Jonathan McDowell is handling The 2020-launched Argentine Earth-observation satellite, Nusat-17. Dr. Jonathan McDowell. He is an astronomer and astrophysicist at the Harvard–Smithsonian Institute for Astrophysics. Stated that the Nusat constellation is one of several whose orbits are steadily intruding on the orbit of the ISS.

According to a 2022 NASA report, manoeuvres to prevent collision with ISS are infrequent. As the space station has already conducted 32 course changes to avoid satellites and trackable space debris since 1999.

Moreover, Last year, the ISS conducted two-course modifications to escape debris from the Cosmos 1408 satellite. Russia destroyed it in November 2021 anti-satellite weapon test.

This time, the station got initial collision alerts around 30 hours before the satellite’s anticipated closest approach.
