Karachi: Police in Karachi stated Monday that reset iPhones are resold
Many iPhones have recovered from Pakistanis returning from Dubai, according to law enforcement.
DIG South Irfan Baloch told that the South zone police cross-checked the IMEI numbers of 10,237 Karachi mobile phones confiscated or stolen between November 2022 and July 2023.
Baloch stated that 1,452 Keamari mobile phone IMEI numbers examined, with 377 recovered and 726 traced. He noted that overwhelming evidence showed Karachi-seized or stolen handsets marketed in Dubai and Afghanistan.
According to the DIG, 22 mobile phones smuggled via Balochistan into Afghanistan and sold in local markets before captured. These phones identified in Quetta because they had Pakistani SIMs.
DIG South Baloch also revealed that his team found several stolen iPhones from Karachi that reset and bypassed iCloud passcodes before sold in Dubai.
