KARACHI: On Friday, the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) solved the riddle surrounding an abduction for ransom case. They solved it by recovering three abducted men from the roof of a Karachi police station.
According to AVCC officials, the men summoned to a North Nazimabad hotel in order to finalise a deal involving the sale of a rare scorpion. Afterward, The men abducted when they arrived at the hotel, according to the officials.
The police personnel contacted the relatives of the abductees and sought Rs5 million for the men’s release. The ransom reduced to Rs500,000 following negotiations.
In an effort to secure the release of their loved ones, the families paid Rs400,000 in ransom.
While, the families of the victims attended the AVCC and alerted officials of the occurrence. In response to the report, AVCC soldiers conducted a raid at the North Nazimabad police station and rescued the three abducted individuals from the station’s rooftop.
The AVCC subsequently arrested five individuals, including two dismissed police officers named Mehbood and Asif, for their alleged involvement in the kidnapping case. The ransom payment (Rs400,000) also retrieved by AVCC officials from their custody.
The police station’s station house officer (SHO) has also been demoted. According to the official, a report will be filed at the local police station in this regard.
