Webdesk: Sonya Hussyn’s performance in Daadal has been lauded. Hussyn plays Haya Baloch, a hitwoman who avenges women abused by men. Before the interval, Haya reveals her motive for killing.
Daadal stars Adnan Shah Tipu, Rizwan Ali Jaffri, Mohsin Abbas Haider, and Shamoon Abbasi. The film follows their characters through the seedy, violent underworld.
Hussyn responded to a review by posting a short clip and a note. “We actually did khoon paseena bahana (shedding blood and sweat) to create this masterpiece,” she wrote on Instagram. “I remember the whole team working in [the] sweltering heat, physically getting hurt on different occasions but it was worth it.”
She added, “My character Haya Baloch is very close to my heart because this defines me. She’s me and us. This character honours brave women, fighters, and winners.
The actor thanked the team. “Thank you, Abu Aleeha and Neha, for including me in this film. A great team made it a great journey. Sharing this short film clip and hoping you’ll love it as much as my previous roles.”
“It’s in theatres. If you watched it, please comment.”
Asrad Khan and Faraz Alam have lauded Daadal’s production and cinematography. Hussyn’s meaty headlining performance was praised. Some lauded its strong moments and performances, while others criticised its lacklustre second half. Due to its graphic violence, gore, and adult language, the film was rated U in Sindh and Punjab and A in Islamabad and its territories.
