Webdesk: Urvashi Rautela describes herself as an independent woman when asked about Sonali Kulkarni’s remark that “women are sluggish.”
Urvashi observed at a recent function, where she heard commenting on Sonali’s words. She stated, “The problem is that this does not apply to me. Because everyone is aware that I am an outsider. And everyone knows how industrious I am, meine khud se apne aap pe.. apne balbute pe (I have made a career in Bollywood on my own, without any assistance). Internationally, my fans recognise me. I am the only Indian woman to have twice won Miss Universe India. I am the youngest judge in Miss Universe’s history. This therefore does not apply to me. This remark applies to all velli (unemployed) women.”
Sonali previously acknowledged the improper statement she made and issued an apology to the public. She stated, “Hello everybody, I’m blown away by the response I’m receiving. I’d like to thank you everyone, especially the entire press and media, for your incredibly mature behaviour in communicating with me. Being a woman myself, no intention of harming other women. In fact, I have repeatedly and extensively expressed my support for us and what it means to be a woman. I am appreciative that you have all reached out to me to praise or critique my work. “I hope that we can have a more open exchange of ideas.”
